The result of tonight’s mission to capture footage of a glow worm.

This is a female glow worm filmed at the top of a cliff in some woods just south of Bristol. Only the female emits a glow which she uses to attract the winged male as he cruises the grass.

Three adult Nightjars churring out their otherworldly sound into the twilight.

I try to make a habit of seeing these birds each year. This is filmed at a beautiful spot in Devon where the dense pine wood disperses into a high canopy clearing, a perfect spot for Nightjar performance.

On this night they were really showing off. They fly like paper birds and will happily flit a couple of feet over your head making clear chirping calls.

A wise old Oak tree.
